  1. Writing HTML Maricopa Center for Learning and Instruction (MCLI) Maricopa County Community College District, Arizona. Exercises that lead you through a step-by-step web creation process: "By the time you have reached the end of this tutorial you will be able to construct a series of linked web pages for any subject that includes formatted text, pictures, and hypertext links to other web pages on the Internet."
  2. HTMLementary by P.J. LABROCCA. HTMLementary is an interactive introduction to HTML. It starts with the simplest and builds progessively more sophisticated pages. It requires a JavaScript enabled browser.
  3. A Beginner's Guide to HTML. NCSA, March, 1998. Brief introduction to writing for the World Wide Web. Introduces the nature of an HTML document, markup tags, character formatting, linking, inline images, tables, and forms. Includes troubleshooting advice and additional resource lists.
  4. A Beginner's Guide to URLs. NCSA. Explanation of the nature and features of a Uniform Resource Locator.
  5. Introduction to HTML 3.2. James Powell, Scholarly Communications Project, University Libraries Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Introduction to markup, elements, tags, including forms and image maps.
  6. Learning HTML. TeamWeb at UT Austin, March, 1998. Introduction presents a "quick start guide," and covers basics, "beyond basics," miscellaneous topics (such as forms, MPEG, JavaScript), and specifications for HTML 2.0 through 3.2. See also the more advanced topics at UT's Learning to Publish site, which includes information on clickable maps, forms, and CGI scripts.
  7. Web Authoring. Nancy Stegall, DeVry Online Writing Support Center, February, 1998. Introduction to web authoring, including sections on selecting a focus, page design elements, and methods for HTML coding.
  8. Hypertext Markup Language . Alan Richmond, CyberWeb SoftWare. Provides background on HTML, brief primer, structure, validation, resources, and dynamic HTML.
  9. The Eight-Minute HTML Primer. Web66. Primer explains eight basic HTML directives which should take about eight minutes to master.
  10. Introduction to HTML. Case Western Reserve University. Intended for people who have never written HTML before, this tutorial promises that users "can pick up the basics of the HyperText Markup Language (HTML) in a few short hours." The site also provides an Intermediate HTML tutorial, which covers character entities, style tags, header elements, and forms.
  11. HTML Basics: Understanding HTML. Martin-Davis (Project Cool Developer's Zone). Exellent tutorial that includes basic tag information linked to structure and style guide.
  12. Teaching Tool. Jill Atkinson. This excellent HTML tutorial lists various HTML elements, such as paragraphs, font colors, links. Users can select either to "learn it" or to "do it." Includes frames and mailto's.
  13. Weaving The Web. College of Family & Consumer Sciences at the University of Georgia. This searchable web authoring tutorial includes information on the web, HTML basics, and HTML "etiquette."
  14. Pug's Web Design Services. Larry Lin. Somewhere between a tutorial and a style guide, this web covers both design and coding issues, from deciding on content to useful tips and tricks of HTML.
  15. The Sevloid Guide to HTML. John Cook. "The Sevloid Guide to HTML is divided into sections each containing a beginner's tutorial on each aspect of the language. However, within each section, you'll find layers of more advanced features of HTML. In this way, the Guide is hoped to serve as an introduction tutorial for beginners, and as reference material for experienced programmers."
  16. Let's Make Some HTML! Anthony Sadera, FuzzyLu MultiMedia. This section of the Internet Playpen is intended to be a simple description and demonstration of HTML and its elements and concepts. This site will not make you an expert, but will hopefully get you off to a solid understanding of what a "web page" is and how the World Wide Web functions.
  17. UCC's General Guide to the Web. University College - Cork, Ireland. A very comprehensive guide to the web, with HTML creation and editing sections. Difficult to navigate, but heavy on the content end of things.

  19. HTML for Dummies. HTML is fun and easy to understand with this fun reference.
